Kabru

kabru is the main server in the lab. Although it is not fast, it carries out a lot of duty. The hardware and software details are given below.

Hardware

• Dell PowerEdge 1400SC
• (2) Intel Pentium III 866MHz (coppermine core, 256KB L2 cache)
• 1GB (256MB x 4) Registered ECC PC133 SDRAM
• (1) Quantum Atlas 10K II 36.7GB HDD (bus:0, id:1, /dev/sda)
• (3) Seagate Cheetah 10K.6 73.4GB HDD (bus:0, id:2, 5, 6, /dev/sd[b-d])
• (3) Quantum Atlas 10K III 73.4GB HDD (bus:1, id:3, 4, 8, /dev/sd[e-g])

Software

• SUSE Linux 10.0
• The 6 73.4GB HDD are configured as a RAID 5 disk array with 1 hot-spare disk and the available capacity is about 270GB.

Network

• eth0: SMC Fast Ethernet NIC, external interface, using DHCP to obtain IP address 141.212.110.98 from DCO
• eth1: unused (unstable)
• eth2: Intel Fast Ethernet NIC, internal interface, statically configured IP address 10.0.0.1

Network Attached Storage

• (1) iSCSI disk, hosted on blade4. This disk was created on Aug. 9, 2007 with 35,004 LE (logical extents, 1 LE = 1 PE = 4 MB) and increased to 41,171 LE on Feb. 19, 2008.

Services

• NFS file server (home directories)
• WWW server (apache 2.0)
• SSH server
• DHCP and DNS servers (dnsmasq)
• LDAP server
• NTP server
• VPN server (OpenVPN)
