Research Interests

Operating systems, especially filesystems and storage systems.

Current Work

To improve disk performance by dynamically rearranging the disk layout.

Disk performance is increasingly the bottleneck to overall system performance. Disk access time is primarily limited by the disk head positioning latencies, i.e. seek time and rotational delay. I am working on a hybrid method to rearrange the disk layout in a way that disk accesses involve shorter seek and rotational latencies, and hence users and applications experience better storage system performance.
