PC Cluster

The PC cluster consists of 6 PCs, including one front-end, four back-end servers, and one client. They are connected to the Ethernet in the lab.

Front-end Load-balancer (dalibasha)

The front-end load-balancer is a Dell Dimension 4550. It has three Ethernet interface cards:

• SMC (MAC: 00:E0:29:2B:6B:FC), DHCP (141.212.110.136), DCO-registered
• Intel PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter (MAC: 00:0E:0C:BC:42:9F), DHCP (10.0.0.50)
• Intel PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter (MAC: 00:0E:0C:BC:41:AC), static IP address (10.0.1.1/24)

Back-end Servers (pissarro, degas, renoir, morisot)

Client (c2d2)

The client is a homemade PC.

Minor issues

Sometime the machine won't come back after rebooting and requires a hard reset. The reason is unknown as of 9/5/2007. I tried to update the BIOS (see below) but it didn't solve the problem.

It had BIOS version 0784 (7/7/2006) when it first came. Updating it to version 1676 (4/13/2007) resulted in poor VGA performance so it is currently reverted to version 1458 (10/17/2006).
