RTCL Networking Group

Group overview

Networking group led by prof. Kang G. Shin has been exploring cutting-edge newtork technolgoies, including wired Internet, wireless sensor networks, wireless mesh and mobile networks, and cognitive radio networks. This group currently consists of 10 excellent graduate students (all in Ph.D track) and 2 postdoctoral research fellows, and holds regular group meeting every week. Through technical presentations and paper reading in group meetings, group members actively interact with each other and expose themselves to various state-of-art areas in networking research.

Current Projects

Cognitive Radio Networks

Wireless Mesh and Mobile Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks

Internet QoS and Routing

Internet QoS is indispensable to various types of real-time applications such as multimedia over IP as well as embedded applications like factories and homes. In these projects, we develop and evaluate various protocols that guarantee or provision such QoS as end-to-end packet delays and jitter bounds, packet loss rate, and bandwidth.
